About Carmen

Carmen Rivera-Gomez, owner of A House in Jobos

Hi, I’m Carmen

Carmen fell in love with the town of Isabela, Puerto Rico, and decided to raise her children here. Abraham and Carmen purchased this home in 1999. Now that they spend more time where their children live, they have decided to open up our home to short-term rentals. Carmen is now the proud owner of A House in Jobos.

Carmen’s goal is to create a space that families can truly call home, where they can relax and make lasting memories of their time in Isabela. She strives to be the go-to housing accommodation for families, including those with mobility issues, looking for an unforgettable experience.

Meet My Family

My husband had a leg amputation in 2022 and shortly after, we all went on a cruise together. Not even an amputation would stop us from enjoying a vacation together! My son and daughter grew up in this home and it is one of the main reasons we have chosen to keep this house and not sell it. It holds so many memories for us; birthday parties, marriages, holidays and so much more. We can’t wait for you to make your own memories here.

After my husband’s amputation, we realized how difficult it is to find a short-term rental that meets his needs. So, we’ve decided to offer our home, while we are away, for families that have someone with limited mobility. I am proud that my husband has been able to use the house independently. That’s why we have a shower bar, shower hose and we’ve rearranged the furniture to allow him to move more freely. The main bathroom door is not 32 inches wide so a wheelchair will not fit, but my husband uses a walker and it works for him.

Bela is our 6th dog in this house. We got her when she was just six weeks old. She is now 11 years old. She’s definitely the boss! Playing fetch outside with her favorite ball is her favorite activity. Otherwise, you can find her resting at our feet. She loves to be on the cool floor.
