Have you ever wanted to do a bible study but had no clue where to begin? How about in the beginning – the book of Genesis? Did you know that is precisely what Genesis means “in the beginning”? Pretty cool.

Genesis: The Plan

Here is a Bible Study Reading plan for you to read Genesis in 40 days. It will only take a few minutes a day. Genesis has a total of 50 chapters and I’ve divided them into 40 days. Some are one chapter long; while others are a bit longer (but not much). This plan is for spending a few minutes in Scripture,  reflecting on what has just been read, and closing your study in prayer.

If you enter your email below, it will take you to a PDF that you can download, print, and place in your bible or prayer journal.

Why not share this with friends and follow it together to do your bible study? Check out our other Bible study schedules as well. We have 40-day timelines for Matthew, Mark & Luke, and John. Exodus, and Pauline letters, among others, coming soon. Exodus is actually coming next month and then we’ll go to the New Testament and read Acts and a few Pauline letters.

How To Use It

I’ve found in my time in the Word that God reveals Himself to me in Scripture. There is so much about Him that I hadn’t known before.

Begin by finding the time to sit for a few minutes with God’s Word. First, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what God wants you to know. Next, read the assigned Scripture of the day. Then reflect on what you have just read. Here are a few questions to get you started.

What stood out in the reading today?

Who am I in this reading? Am I an observer in the crowd? Am I a disciple? Or am I a pharisee or scribe?

How can I act on God’s Word? What can I incorporate into or remove from my daily life to live as Jesus wants me to live?

Finally, close in prayer.
